Homestay English and Football Course

The English Experience Homestay English & Football course for young learners aged 13-18 is designed to improve the students’ football skills and knowledge as well as their English.  The students will learn English with qualified teachers at the school in the morning. The students will find out about the lifestyle of footballers, including nutrition and health, they will create their own dream team and learn about life in Britain during their stay in the historic city of Norwich.

The course is available for students who are pre-intermediate to advanced English level, all levels encourage English communication in and out of the classroom. The teachers use a more communicative approach in their lessons with the aim of task completion and language development. Classes are multi-lingual and students interact in pairs and groups to grow in confidence as well as ability.
         
Students will then head down to Carrow Road, home of Premier League side Norwich City FC, to practise their footballing skills on 3G pitches with professional coaches from the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation. Norwich City FC is the first club in ten years to achieve back-to-back promotions to the premiership and is managed by Paul Lambert, one of the most exciting young managers in the country.

English Course objectives
The core objectives of the courses are to:

• promote independent and collaborative learning
• enhance vocabulary
• advance pronunciation, stress and intonation
• further develop English language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking
• improve existing knowledge of grammar
• compare and contrast cultures while developing intercultural awareness
• provide contexts for cross-curricular links
• practise language through integrated skills

Course includes


• full board host family accommodation (packed lunch)
• qualified teachers
• 15 hours of lessons per week: lessons from 09:00 – 12:30 including a 30 minute break
• placement test
• maximum class size: 16 students. 
• 10 hours per week of football training with qualified coaches on 3G pitches
• T-shirt, gift, medal, certificate
• Welfare Officer available to students weekdays from 08 30 – 17 00
• 24 hour emergency telephone contact
• one full day excursion and one half day excursion per week
• one evening activity per week

Note: students need to bring appropriate clothes for playing football (shorts, tracksuit etc), trainers, shin pads and a water bottle.

Not included
Flights from your local airport to point of entry into the UK, personal and travel insurance. On arrival all students need to purchase a bus pass for local travel to and from school.
